Vinted's new standard T&Cs — everything you need to know
On 8 October 2026, Vinted's general User Terms and Conditions change. The app notification says "we've updated our terms" and leaves it there. What follows is what actually changed, in plain English, so you can decide what to do before you click accept.
Every quote below is verbatim from Vinted's two published docs: the version dated 30 April 2026 and the version dated 8 October 2026. Anything not in quotes is Sad Vinted Faces analysis, based on reading the two side by side.
The biggest changes, at a glance
Ranked by impact on sellers. The first three are the ones that shift real power away from you.
1. Verification process
Before: Vinted keeps flagged items while you challenge, no deadline in the terms.
After: Six weeks then they can dispose of, recycle or destroy your item.
2. Corrective actions
Before: A named list of exactly what Vinted can do to you.
After: Whatever Vinted decides is "proportional".
3. Buyer Protection
Before: A defined service you paid a fee for.
After: The named service is gone. It's now just a policy Vinted provides.
4. Fee name
Before: Buyer Protection fee.
After: Vinted fee.
5. What the fee buys
Before: Not described in the terms.
After: "A mandatory platform fee that contributes to our costs of operating the Site".
6. Counterfeit response window
Before: 24 hours to prove your item is real.
After: 48 hours to prove your item is real.
7. Counterfeit investigation
Before: "We'll investigate".
After: "We may investigate".
8. Automated enforcement trigger
Before: Vinted can act on tip-offs from "competent Authorities".
After: Vinted can act on tip-offs from "third parties such as relevant authorities".
9. Wallet payout
Before: Wallet providers may verify your bank details.
After: If they can't verify, they can block your Wallet and your payouts until you correct the info.
What can now get you banned in a single breach
Under the October rewrite, any single breach of the Terms or the Catalogue Rules can be met with a temporary or permanent account block on Vinted's own judgment of what's "proportional". Under the April version, blocking was reserved for repeated or serious breaches. That ladder is gone.
Anything on this list is now enough:
- Deleting and relisting
- Multiples of the same item
- Volume of new with tags
- Same style in different colours or sizes
- High listing volume as a non-Pro
- Handmade in bulk
- Bulk NWT as a Pro, unless each item is a unique second-hand piece
- Anything Vinted decides counts as commercial selling
- Anything on the Catalogue Rules prohibited list
- Autolisters, bots, or bumping tools
- Scraping, data-mining or reverse-engineering the Site
- Copying or commercialising anything on the Site
- Sharing Site info outside the "Share" button
- Out-of-date Account info, including your home address
- Weak password security, or not reporting a suspected account takeover
- Being a minor with an Account
- Illegal, unethical or rights-infringing content
- Hate speech and the other listed harmful content
- Collecting info about other users through the Site
- Advertising other websites or companies
- A payment or wallet provider raising a fraud, laundering or misuse suspicion
- A dispute Vinted decides was made in bad faith
- Anything Vinted labels a safety, security or economic threat
- Anything Vinted labels an IT security threat
Class actions: not a UK change (yet)
Some Vinted user groups have been circulating screenshots suggesting the new terms include a class action waiver and a jury trial waiver, governed by the state of Delaware. Those clauses are real, but they are only in Vinted's US terms, also effective 8 October 2026.
The UK terms, old and new, contain no arbitration clause, no class action waiver and no jury trial waiver. UK users keep the right to sue in the courts of where they live, under English law. Same company, same date, deliberately different levels of protection depending on which passport you hold.
