Vinted Pro account banned for commercial selling: the Pro trap and how to fight back
The step-by-step
- Screenshot the Pro Guide and Pro T&Cs clauses. Save screenshots and PDF copies of Pro Guide clause 2.7 (at vinted.co.uk/pro-guide) and Pro T&Cs clause 26 (at vinted.co.uk/legal/pro-terms). Record the URL and the date you accessed. If Vinted quietly amends these later, your screenshot is the version that applied when you were a Pro seller.
- Download and complete the CEDR mediation form. Available at cedr.com/mediation-services/schemes/vinted-mediation-scheme. Complete your section fully: what happened, when, what remedy you want (reinstatement, release of balance, removal of the commercial-selling flag). Attach evidence.
- Send the completed form to Vinted's legal team. Email the form to legal@vinted.co.uk, cc legal@vinted.com, privacysupport@vinted.co.uk and vinted@vinted.co.uk. Reference Pro Guide clause 2.7 and Pro T&Cs clause 26 explicitly in the email body. Give Vinted 14 days to complete their section and return the form to CEDR.
- Document the non-response. Community reports show Vinted consistently fails to complete their section. Record every send date, every follow-up, every automated reply (often from "Yulia"). Store in the correspondence log at /press/vinted-correspondence-log.docx.
- Escalate the contractual breach to Trading Standards and the P2B Regulation. Once Vinted has demonstrably failed to honour their own Pro contract, that breach itself becomes grounds for: a Trading Standards complaint under the DMCC Act 2024 professional-diligence duty; a formal complaint under the Retained Platform-to-Business Regulation requiring functioning internal dispute resolution; and a Letter Before Claim naming the specific contractual breach.
The Pro trap: why going Pro doesn't stop the bans
The single most-reported pattern in the Sad Vinted Faces survey of 6,500 UK users: people being pushed into Pro status, registering as a trader with HMRC, and then being banned again under the same "commercial selling" clause that Pro accounts exist to allow. Several of the strongest cases on the stories page fit this pattern exactly.
The mechanism: Vinted's Catalogue Rules contain two deliberately ambiguous clauses — "anything Vinted decides counts as commercial selling" and "bulk NWT as a Pro, unless each item is a unique second-hand piece". Neither defines a volume number. The Pro T&Cs do not resolve the ambiguity. So the same automated moderation that pushed you into Pro can then ban your Pro account for the activity Pro was created for.
Why Pro status still changes your legal position
Even though the Pro ban trap is real, Pro status is not pointless from a legal perspective. The Retained Platform-to-Business Regulation (EU 2019/1150, retained in UK law) applies to Vinted's relationship with Pro sellers but not to regular users. It gives you:
- A requirement for 30-day notice before restriction or termination
- A specific evidenced statement of reasons (not a templated "commercial selling" line)
- Access to a functioning internal dispute-resolution process
- The contractual right to CEDR mediation (clause 2.7)
If Vinted bans a Pro account without providing these, each breach stacks as separate grounds for escalation.
CEDR: the single most under-used lever
Most Pro sellers don't know the CEDR mediation route exists. Vinted wrote it into their own contract. Vinted consistently fails to honour it. That failure is itself a documented breach of contract — which is a factual question with a documented answer, not a disputable one. This is what gives it so much weight with Trading Standards and in any subsequent legal action.

People also ask
Why do Vinted Pro accounts get banned for commercial selling?
Vinted's Catalogue Rules allow bans for "anything Vinted decides counts as commercial selling" and for "bulk NWT as a Pro, unless each item is a unique second-hand piece" — both ambiguous clauses that are then applied to Pro accounts for behaviour Pro was created to permit. The ambiguity is the mechanism.
What is CEDR mediation and can Vinted Pro sellers use it?
CEDR is the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution, an independent mediator. Every Vinted Pro account holder has a contractual right to CEDR mediation under Pro Guide clause 2.7 and Pro T&Cs clause 26. The form is at cedr.com/mediation-services/schemes/vinted-mediation-scheme. Vinted consistently fails to complete their section when sellers submit it, which is itself a breach of Vinted's own contract.
Can a Vinted Pro account be restored after a ban?
Yes, in several documented UK cases. The routes that have worked: a Subject Access Request citing Article 15(1)(h) UK GDPR, Article 22(3) human review demand, CEDR mediation form submission (documenting Vinted's non-response), and Trading Standards complaints citing the DMCC Act 2024 and Retained Platform-to-Business Regulation (EU 2019/1150).
Does the Platform-to-Business Regulation apply to Vinted Pro?
Yes. The Retained Platform-to-Business Regulation (EU 2019/1150), kept in UK law post-Brexit, applies to Vinted's relationship with Pro sellers. It requires a 30-day notice period before account restriction or termination, a specific evidenced statement of reasons, and access to a functioning dispute-resolution process.
